NOWHERE in your 32-page special Play-off supplement on Saturday could I find an explanation of why the Town relinquished their usual red shirts for white ones. Was it a club, FA or Football League decision?
Whoever was responsible it was surely a wholly inexplicable and flawed judgement.
Swindon Town have played in red and been known as the Robins for over 100 years, and yet when it comes to the biggest match for two decades someone deems it acceptable to change to white. It’s not as if red clashed with Millwall’s blue (and don’t use the black-and-white TV argument in this digital age).
No, it was a crass decision that disrespected the thousands of fans who have used the “come on you reds” battle cry all their lives.
If you get another Wembley chance Swindon, stick to red!
