As a cast member (a fairy!), I’d like to thank everyone who came to watch Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s show Iolanthe at Steam a few days ago.
We had a tremendous amount of fun putting it on, and it was great to have such large and enthusiastic audiences!
It was a bit of a shame, however, that our own president, Rod Bluh, somehow managed to miss mentioning us in his long column about the happenings at Steam, published in the Adver last Thursday, which happened to be our opening night. Still, we all make mistakes.
Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society is planning to put on several concerts in the coming months and will be starting rehearsals some time in May, on Tuesday evenings in Wroughton Working Men’s Club.
We’re always ready to welcome new members – it helps if you can read music, but isn’t essential as long as you can hold a tune.
If you fancy having a go, get in touch with our secretary, Ann Evans, on (01793) 878888, or email ann.c.evans@btopenworld.com. You can also look at our website, www.swindongilbertandsullivan.
