MICHAEL Doughty was once again the star man as Town earned a credible draw at Peterborough last weekend.
The QPR loanee has now been involved in every Town goal scored in the league this season - an impressive statistic for an impressive player.
It was an unfortunate debut for newest recruit Sean Murray as his first action in a Town shirt was to give away a penalty.
But despite not making a great first impression, I’m confident he’ll turn out to be a good piece of business.
After being touted as a future star at Vicarage Road for many years, Murray never quite got the chance to show what he’s capable of. I’m excited to see what he will bring to Town once he finds his rhythm in the coming months.
Having being starved of any local derbies last season, like a bus, three turn up in quick succession.
With Bristol Rovers now visiting Town on Tuesday September 20 due to the recent postponement, Swindon face three meetings with two local sides over the next four weeks, starting with Oxford this weekend at the Kassam Stadium.
As their fans like to point out, Town’s record against their rivals has been dreadful in recent years, tasting defeat in their last five encounters.
Two goals from Steve Robinson in 2001 gave Town their last win over the U’s in the last derby game to be played at the Manor Ground.
But since moving to the Kassam Stadium, Swindon have yet to earn the bragging rights in Oxfordshire.
Yaser Kasim seems the biggest doubt for this weekend’s game, as he missed out on representing his country over the international break through injury.
But there was some good news as Jon Obika looks to be returning to full fitness after he played and scored in a friendly in midweek.
It might be to soon to chuck him straight into the starting XI, but even having him on the bench is a huge boost.
Finally, I wanted to congratulate Newport County, who are offering free admission to their rearranged fixture with Barnet after it was abandoned at half time last weekend due to heavy rain.
Offering fans the chance to pay just once to see one match is something I hope will reach Wiltshire one day in the future.
