IT WAS another frustrating day on the pitch for Town last Saturday with the team not putting in a performance across the whole 90 minutes that might have given us a chance of taking second spot in the league.

Even if the play-offs now look the most likely destination for Town, these next two games will still play a huge part in the season.

The last time we had a chance in the play-offs was in the 2003-04 season, and I'm sure you all remember the heartbreak of the game at the Withdean.

We had a very similar situation with the team going into the play-offs after some disappointing results in the last few games meaning we didn’t have the momentum or the confidence we needed for the games against Brighton.

So even if second place is looking unlikely, the remaining two league games are still must wins because it will be a huge advantage to be playing the second leg of the play-offs at the County Ground by finishing in third or fourth position in the league.

But as we look forward to possible play-off games we have every reason to believe we can do well.

Town haven’t lost any games against our play-off rivals this season, having beaten Leeds twice (6-0 on aggregate!) with a win and a draw against Huddersfield, two stalemates with Charlton after they equalised in both games very late on, and a draw with Millwall at home earlier in the season.

We should take a lot of confidence into those games and believe we can be playing at Wembley on May 29.

As we saw at home against Walsall, there are no easy games left.

Brentford have nothing to play for in the league but some of their players will still be out to impress the manager by trying to earn new contracts for next season.

I'm sure that Brentford will come and play in the same way Walsall did and try and park the team bus in the goal for 90 minutes and man mark Austin so he doesn't get a sniff at goal.

But as we have displayed all season we have the quality throughout the squad to break down any team in the division, and I expect a response from the disappointment of last week with a good home win today.
