After going through years of financial trouble involving 2 Administrations, being the first club to go from the Premier League to League Two and enduring mediocre results on the pitch for the last few years are penalty shootout win and a trip to Wembley are well deserved for every Town fan.
The atmosphere at the Valley was incredible and every Town fan that made the trip to London deserves lots of praise for there support, I have never been so on edge watching a football match in my life, we did contain Charlton well overall in both legs especially in extra time in the 2nd and Phil Smith deserves credit for coming in and making some excellent saves to keep us in the game.
Once again Charlie Austin put in a performance that will double any potential transfer fee that might come Town's way in the summer, its amazing to think this time last year he was playing six divisions below League One, it’s a real football fairytale for him and I hope he scores a goal at the home of football to finish of an amazing year.
A lot of praise has to go to Scott Cuthbert who was my man of the match for some crucial interceptions and calm head during the game, His central defensive partner Gordon Greer also had a good game and was unlucky to be sent off for his high boot on Deon Burton.
But the best player over both legs for me was Danny Ward, in the first leg he completely ran the show for us going forward and his finish for the second goal deserved to grace the Premiership and unfortunately for us I think next season that's were he will get his chance.
So a trip to Wembley beckons next Saturday and I'm sure Town will turn the M4 red and white with a convoy of cars and Barnes buses all the way to Wembley! And let's hope we can keep up are unbeaten record there and return a Championship club!
