A TOWN FULL OF KIND PEOPLE
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am in my late 80s and came to live in Swindon three-and-a-half years ago.
Almost without exception, members of the public have been considerate and helpful: neighbours, staff at the local shops, total strangers.
A retired plumber-electrician lifted my heavy disability scooter into his van when it broke down and took me back to my home.
On another occasion, when the scooter ran out of power, I was pushed back home.
Doors held open, help with refuse bins, plentiful assistance for which I am very grateful.
On very rough reckoning, only one instance of surly non-cooperation to every 100 gestures of kindness.
