Swindon's streets are in a terrible state compared to how they were decades ago.
That is the view of one Adver reader who felt compelled to write in after enjoying a Nostalgia gallery of images from Fleming Way earlier this month.
He observed a stark difference in the tidiness of the road in the archive photos and what it looks like nowadays.
Des Morgan, of Caraway Drive, said: "How enjoyable it is to relive Swindon's history through the images of the Nostalgia pages.
"In the recent pictures of Fleming Way, one thing stood out - the absence of any weeds in the road galleys and well cut grass verges.
"How different from the 'tumbleweed' approach sanctioned by the borough council.
"Our town is a picture of despair, with litter remaining unpicked for weeks, brambles threatening injury to the unsuspecting pedestrian, and pavements ruined by unscrupulous utility companies that have been allowed to get away with substandard reinstatement works."
